The Super 700 was re-named ASG018 in 1978, it was an 18 ton machine. Later the heavier ASG021 was built, mainly for maintaining haul roads on Open Cast Coal Sites, in the UK, when Dumptrucks were getting larger year by year. The ASG021 was the same size as ASG018, just heavier. 2 Zitieren
Graderfan 7.604 Geschrieben 20. Februar 2017 Autor Geschrieben 20. Februar 2017 On my info, the ASG 021 weight 21,3 tons. The type numbers are names from the weight from the ASG series. 1 Zitieren
A-B Machines 14 Geschrieben 20. Februar 2017 Geschrieben 20. Februar 2017 That is correct. In 1978 all the Aveling Barford products were given new names, so that prefix TG is Tandem Grader, ASG is All wheel Steer Grader. The numbers were the weight. The MT grader became TG011, at 11 tons then there were 12, 13and 14 ton Tandems. The Dumptruck numbers were the payload in tons, RD040 was a 40 ton payload Rear Dumptruck. The Road Rollers were the weight of the machine when ballasted with sand or water. DC013 etc At the same time, the Company changed its standard colour from orange to yellow. Long service men at A-B did not like this change ! 2 Zitieren
A-B Machines 14 Geschrieben 20. Februar 2017 Geschrieben 20. Februar 2017 As you already know, Aveling Barford's Grader production started in 1950, when they made an agreement with Austin Western in the U.S.A. to make their 99H 4 X 4 All Wheel Drive and Steer Graders under the name Aveling Austin. I have found a fantastic catalogue, 28 pages long and dated June 1950 featuring this grader. It has been uploaded to the Facebook page below. Please Download any pages https://www.facebook.com/pg/Aveling-Barford-Machines-1892576694295646/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1904204956466153 2 Zitieren
